@vn00807352, offset welcome to CCF. Second, information technology is always nice to take the diameter and weight to help respond this question. While I am not an expert on these, I do annotation that the mintmark seems pocket-sized, at least compared to the one here:

That would brand me nervous, but I'chiliad sure more qualified folks volition counterbalance in with meliorate opinions nearly existent vs. fake.

There is a 1877 mini S that this appears to be. For this date the mint marks came in three sizes large, medium or small. The coin looks genuine. It has a type ii obverse and reverse. The stars and denticles are correct and the details look good. The money does appear to have an old cleaning. A lot of counterfeits are cleaned to hide cast bumps and imperfections. If you lot check the weight, I would exist surprised if information technology was not correct.

Looks real, and it appears someone took a wire brush to it to make clean it, which is a shame because it is in first-class shape otherwise.
If you are going to handle coins, only touch the rims, oil from your fingers can leave permanent marks on the coin, that might non show upwards for a year, but go permanent stains.

Showtime, vn00807352. Glad to accept you here!
Second, this is a teachable moment for me, likewise. When I looked at the discipline money, I immediately thought apocryphal based on the bubbling around the rim. Then, is this common on the Merchandise dollar or other older silver?

Trade dollars practice not typically have bubbling. When I orginally looked at the money the bumps appeared to be from displaced metal. There are some bumps that could be a business organization effectually the appointment and legs, and the reason for the harsh cleaning is to hide the cast bumps. I would like to know the weight on the coin.

I have to make a correction on the 77s there were only two size mint marks mini and large.
Below are the different size South mint marks per date according to Breen.
73 Due south - ane size
74 S - mini, med, Lg
75 S - mini, Lg
76 Southward - mini, Lg
78 Southward - med, Lg
